Meet Our Veterinarians:


Dr. Alex Dulaney

Dr. Alex Dulaney was raised in Jonesborough and graduated as valedictorian from David Crockett High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2000 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Dr. Dulaney opened a large animal ambulatory practice in Greeneville in March 2006 called Eastside Veterinary Services. In January 2012, Dr. Dulaney and Dr. Taylor partnered on a new branding of the current practice and renamed it East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital and began offering mixed animal veterinary services. Before the company mission statement was ever on a sign or business card, Dr. Dulaney and Dr. Taylor were both led and driven by a heart of “Caring for His creatures, and serving those who love them.”
Dr. Dulaney is married to his beautiful wife Elizabeth, and they have three daughters. Their family enjoys sports and farming. Dr. Dulaney also serves as the head softball coach at David Crockett High School. He and his family attend Hope Church in Gray, TN.


Dr. Patrick Taylor

Dr. Patrick Taylor is a Greene County native. He was raised on his family’s farm and knew from the age of three that he wanted to be a veterinarian. He graduated as valedictorian of his class from West Greene High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Tusculum College in 2003. Dr. Taylor obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Following his education, Dr. Taylor worked as a mixed animal veterinarian in Louisiana prior to partnering with Dr. Dulaney in January 2012 to establish East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital in Greeneville. The practice opened a second location in Gray, TN in 2021.
Dr. Taylor is married to his lovely wife, Courtney, and they have 2 boys. They live in the Warrensburg Community where they operate a beef cattle farm that focuses on supplying top quality genetics to other producers. Their family enjoys farming, riding 4-wheelers, and other outdoor activities. The Taylor Family attends Bible’s Chapel Church.


Dr. Claire Baskett

Dr. Baskett graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a minor in Biological Sciences. She then received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Upon graduation, Dr. Baskett returned to her hometown of Gray, TN and started practicing mixed animal medicine at East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital. Over the years her professional interests have narrowed in on small animal medicine and surgery. However, the diversity and surprises of working in a mixed animal practice continues to keep Dr. Baskett excited about coming to work every day. Dr. Baskett is thankful to work with talented staff and caring clients at ETVH.

Dr. Baskett is married to her high-school sweetheart, Cody. They have three fur-babies: Deuce (blue heeler), Ash (Labrador retriever) and Coal (a black cat). In her free time, she enjoys exercising, travelling, and spending time with friends and family. She is a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where she assists with the youth program.


Dr. Megan Gilbert-Myers

Dr. Gilbert-Myers was raised on a dairy farm in nearby Hamblen County. It was there that she first discovered her love for animals. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in animal science from The University of Tennessee followed by her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Dr. Gilbert-Myers joined the staff at East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital in December of 2017 where she primarily treats companion animals.

Dr. Gilbert-Myers and her husband, Josh, live on a cattle farm in Mosheim with their 3-year-old daughter, and their 2-year-old son. They also have 3 pets including 2 Australian Shepherds (River & Rein) and a barn cat (Bagheera). In her free time, Dr. Gilbert-Myers enjoys being at home with her kids, working outside on her farm and in her flower beds. Family time is most important to her. She also enjoys baking, taking her kids to Dollywood, and traveling to the beach.


Dr. Margaret Bixler

Dr. Bixler grew up on Sayland Dairy farm in Jonesborough. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in animal science from The University of Tennessee as a Haslam Scholar in 2012 before receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Prior to joining the staff at East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital in 2022, Dr. Bixler worked at Bear Creek Veterinary Hospital in Albemarle, NC (2016-2017) and Tri County Veterinary Clinic in Seymour, TN (2017-2022). Dr. Bixler treats her patients with loving care at our Gray location.

Margaret is married to Todd Bixler, and they have a 3-year-old daughter, as well as a miniature schnauzer named Benji. They attend Boones Creek Christian Church and would like to invite anyone who does not already have a church home. In her spare time, Dr. Bixler enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, camping, and crafting.


Dr. Matthew Harlan

Dr. Harlan grew up in Jackson, TN, where he is a 2014 graduate of Jackson Christian School. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in animal science from The University of Tennessee in 2018 followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. Dr. Harlan joined the staff at East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital in June of 2022 where he treats both our small and large animal clientele.
Dr. Harlan met his wife, Bailee, at UT while he was a Smokey’s Handler, and she was a cheerleader. They enjoy traveling, attending UT athletic events, and spending time with their animals. They have 2 dogs, Stokely and Milo, as well as 2 cats, Mia and Oliver.


Dr. Emily Mardiks

Dr. Mardiks grew up in Falls Church, Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in animal and poultry sciences. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) in 2023. She has been part of the East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital team ever since.

Dr. Mardiks, her husband, Randall, and their dogs enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities in their free time, such as hiking, kayaking, and camping. They have four beloved dogs at home including a basset hound, a bluetick coonhound, and two labrador retrievers.


Dr. Jacob Harris

Dr. Harris graduated from Walters State Community College in 2014 with an associate degree in animal science/pre-veterinary medicine. In 2016, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in animal science from The University of Tennessee, followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. He joined the staff at East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital in August of 2021 where you can usually find him on farm calls, treating our larger patients.

Dr. Harris and his wife, Brittany, reside in Russellville. His hobbies include running a beef cattle and hay farm, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his wife and family.


Dr. Becca Bolton

Dr. Becca Bolton grew up on a Longhorn cattle farm in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University in 2012. After college, Dr. Bolton spent 3 years in Yellowstone National Park working for the Bison Program. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Dr. Bolton first joined the staff at East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital following graduation. She took a brief hiatus to travel the world, followed by working at a small animal clinic in Charlottesville, VA but she realized how much she missed her ETVH family and decided to move back.

Dr. Bolton is happy to be back in East Tennessee where she enjoys hiking, biking, and skiing in her free time.
